Tottenham now looking to sign ‘really important’ West Ham player who Ledley King loves

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the West Ham United full-back Ben Johnson this summer.

Plans for the upcoming transfer window will be on the mind of those at Hotspur Way with the end of the season just months away.

And it seems Spurs are looking to potentially take a player off one of their London rivals.

Tottenham interested in Ben Johnson

According to Football Transfers, Johnson is a player who Tottenham have now set their sights on.

He is a player who has caught the eye of the Tottenham recruitment team ahead of the summer window.

It is claimed the 24-year-old comes with the recommendation of Tottenham legend – and the player’s cousin – Ledley King.

Johnson is nearing an exit from the London Stadium this summer as he has turned down two new contracts as his current deal looks set to expire.

Tottenham’s full-back search

The Spurs News has been told ahead of the summer that Tottenham are looking to bring in a versatile new full-back.

Ange Postecoglou’s options have been tested in that department this season and the manager is not convinced by what he already has.

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie have nailed down the starting spots in Postecoglou’s XI this season.

However, their replacements in times of injury or suspension have left the 58-year-old far from impressed.

Johnson has been far from a regular for the Hammers this season. The 24-year-old has only been able to rack up 418 minutes of action in the Premier League.

With just four starts to his name, you have to question whether this is a player who could actually come in and do a better job than what Spurs already have.

Johnson is, however, a player who David Moyes has previously hailed as “really important” to West Ham.

With the player looking set to become a free agent, it is a possibility which Spurs will probably be monitoring.
