'Doing the exact same': Leicester City star raves about Leeds and compares them to Premier League side

Leicester City defender Conor Coady has discussed how side are feeling after Leeds United’s recent run of form.

Leeds claimed top spot in the Championship for the first time this season on Sunday thanks to a 2-0 victory over Millwall, with Leicester having been the division’s pace-setters from pretty much the first whistle.

Since the turn of the New Year, Leeds have picked up 37 points from a possible 39 available. At the beginning of this run, the Whites had been 17 adrift of Leicester.

Coady was asked on the latest episode of BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Club about how it has felt at the King Power watching Leeds’ form be so relentless.

The former England defender praised the quality in Leeds’ squad and likened them to the Fulham side that were promoted a couple of years ago, but insists Leicester are not panicking.

Coady speaks on Leeds’ run of form

He said: “Yeah Leeds are a good side, they’ve got some great players and a lot who were in the Premier League last season, and some with Championship experience.

“I think we’ve seen it before in the Championship where teams have gone on a run, I remember a couple of years ago Fulham did it in the second half of the season they had a good run. Leeds are doing the exact same.

“It’s a great run they have been on, not one that is helping us at this moment in time, in terms of how they are playing but from a Leicester point of view, it’s important we focus on what we need to focus on.

“We’ve got that game in hand now and need to make sure we do the next few games right and get the jobs finished.”

It will be interesting to see how Leicester perform after the international break, as for the first time in several months, they are doing the chasing, as opposed to them being chased.

Leicester supporter Gary Lineker admitted yesterday that he is now ‘terrified’ of the run of form Leeds have been on as of late, but of course as a player, Coady cannot show that.

There are still plenty of matches left to play and there is sure to be some twists and turns to come, so it is important Leeds do not get ahead of themselves in the race.
