Carlton Cole has named a current West Ham star as his favourite player in world football right now.
Of course, the Hammers don’t necessarily have the very best players on the planet at this moment in time, but they do have some of the most fun footballers in the world at their disposal.
Indeed, the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus are an absolute joy to watch, while speaking to ESPN, Cole has stated that Lucas Paqueta is indeed his favourite player in the world.
Cole picked Paqueta alongside Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne in his top three, putting each of those players ahead of Jude Bellingham.

Cole spoke about the Brazilian.
“Who are your three favourite players in the world right now?
“My favourite player? I’ve got to say Paqueta. Definitely. He’s up there for me. Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, I love Bellingham as well, but Phil Foden, there’s something about his touch that I can’t ignore,” Cole said.

There probably aren’t many people who would argue that Paqueta is a better player than Bellingham, but in terms of who is more interesting to watch, we’d have to agree that the Brazilian is more fun as a player.
Indeed, the midfielder may not score goals at the same rate as Bellingham, but his abilities do make him a more aesthetically pleasing player.
He has an incredible first-touch, a remarkable eye for a pass and a truly fantastic ability to dribble.
Bellingham is a fantastic player, but he’s much more forceful where Paqueta is graceful, and we can absolutely understand why Cole prefers to watch the West Ham star, especially when you take into account the pundit’s bias towards his old club.
Hammers fans are certainly lucky to be able to watch Paqueta every week.
