Opta have just given the percentage chance that Nottingham Forest go down this season after points deduction

Nottingham Forest have now been deducted four points for breaching financial fair play regulations – and some statistics have shared the probability that they will now be relegated.

The Reds discovered their fate yesterday. It’s fair to say that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis isn’t happy, with the club set to launch an appeal against the decision.

Forest drew 1-1 with Luton Town on Saturday. They’ve not slipped below the Hatters in the Premier League table and are a point behind their relegation rivals in the battle for survival.

Statistics share the likelihood of Nottingham Forest relegation

Well, this is the time when the talking has to stop eventually and Forest have to focus on winning football matches. Four points doesn’t leave the Reds needing snookers and hopefully, progress can now be made.

After the decision yesterdayOpta released some relegation statistics. They have taken the involved teams and their fixtures and come up with the probability of relegation.

Nottingham Forest are now at 38%, with Everton less likely at 3.27%. Luton are still fancied higher for the drop with their likelihood at 62.11%.

Burnley and Sheffield United are some way back and it would appear as though those two clubs are still not coming into the conversation.

Forest must now focus on winning matches

At least there is now some closure. Forest know that it won’t be any more than four points and with a point between them and Luton, it’s time to start getting points.

Given the two sets of fixtures remaining, it’s fair to say that Forest have the better run-in. Luton still have to go to Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City in three of their next four games.

Forest have to forget about this now. The club has to pull together and start winning matches and then the powers that be have to ensure the Reds are never in this situation ever again.
