'In consideration': Journalist says Man City are actually one of the five clubs who can sign 29-year-old star

It has been reported that Manchester City are one of the five clubs that could sign Joshua Kimmich in the summer of 2024.

In February, it was claimed that City were pessimistic about their chances of signing the Bayern Munich technician, even though the player in question was keen on being reunited with Pep Guardiola.

It seems like Kimmich’s future will become one of the most discussed transfer stories in the summer, considering a player of his standing in the game sees his contract at the Allianz Arena expire in 2025.

Manchester City are one of the five clubs with a chance to sign Joshua Kimmich

It seemed like Bayern had somehow managed to sign the reincarnation of Philipp Lahm in the versatile defender when they signed him from RB Leipzig in 2015, as he is capable of operating both at right-back and in midfield at a high level.

Some would argue that Kimmich is already a club legend for the German giants but even so, it seems like he could be way on his way out of the club.

Manchester City is one of the five clubs who could sign Joshua Kimmich in the summer, alongside Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool as well as the Spanish heavyweights, Real Madrid and Barcelona, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg,

Bayern are believed to be ready to offload the 29-year-old, who has ruled out moves to Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Kyle Walker could be used in a swap-deal for Joshua Kimmich

One way in which Manchester City could win the race to sign Joshua Kimmich is by offering Kyle Walker in exchange, in our view.

In an interview with The Times, the Englishman admitted that while he was close to signing for Bayern, his desire was always to stay at City.

Eventually, Walker also signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2026.

But considering the treble-winner’s performances have declined this season while Kimmich is four years younger than him, perhaps he could be used as a makeweight to ensure a deal is completed.

Joshua Kimmich was arguably the best right-back in the world before he was shifted to central midfield and in recent weeks, he has looked brilliant as one for the Bavarian side, such as in his side’s 3-1 win against Lazio.
