‘Disrepectful’… Ange Postecoglou criticised after what he did following Fulham defeat

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been slammed as disrespectful following the defeat to Fulham.

Spurs will be unable to bounce straight back into Premier League action as there will now be a two week international break.

And it seems the actions of Ange Postecoglou has not gone down well with some who were present in his post-game press conference.

What did Ange Postecoglou do to offend?

It was a 90 minutes of football which Postecoglou will be keen to forget in a hurry as his side were brought back down to earth.

Spurs saw their top four hopes given a real boost just six days prior with an emphatic victory over Aston Villa.

However, when asked about how the defeat to Fulham would affect those Champions League dreams, Postecoglou hit back.

Speaking on TalkSPORT’s All Access podcast, reporter Alex Crook admitted he was left annoyed by the manner which the 58-year-old responded to the question.

He said: “I felt really sorry for this guy reporting was Emma Saunders, wasn’t it? Because I thought was a reasonable question. You know, you’ve got to go over the top four, you get heavy defeat away from home.

“‘What does this do for your aspirations of getting into the top four?’ It’s not a difficult question to answer and I thought the answer it facetiously I think he was rude. And then you say kept up, sarcastic witty response. I didn’t think it was funny or witty. I thought it was a little bit disrespectful. I think he is very spiky in post-match interviews.”

What has Crook previously said about Postecoglou?

The TalkSPORT man is no stranger to calling out the Australian manager.

In fact, prior to Crooks comments on the podcast, the host, Sam Matterface, said: “Crooky is one of the very few people who isn’t enamoured with Big Ange, you don’t like him, do you?”

So it is apparent the Manchester United-supporting reporter is not someone who holds Postecoglou in the same regard as others.

Crook has also taken aim at Postecoglou earlier in the season when he slammed the Australian as arrogant following the defeat to Wolves.

Considering this is still Postecoglou’s first season in charge of a Premier League side, he isn’t doing a shabby job.

Yes, Spurs have shown some areas for improvement, but they are still comfortably clear of Crook’s beloved Manchester United.

The Red Devils are now in their second season under Erik ten Hag, have only taken one point off Spurs over their two meeting under Postecoglou and sit six points adrift.

Even if fifth place doesn’t get Champions League football as expected, Spurs could still be playing Champions League football next season instead of United.
