‘Special’ Liverpool youngster has been named in prestigious list, he has ‘surprised’ Jurgen Klopp

In Jurgen Klopp’s final season, Liverpool have been given a blueprint for the future. More youngsters are now catching the eye for the Reds than ever before.

From Jarell Quansah to Conor Bradley, there are some who have established themselves as a key part of Liverpool’s first team. Both could even be in contention to be fighting for a place in the starting XI.

Meanwhile, others have also made encouraging steps in more recent months. The emergence of Jayden Danns, for example, has been very exciting. He is regarded as a player with a bright future ahead and already made history with his brace in the FA Cup against Southampton.

Then there is Bobby Clark. He is a player who has now been involved in more than a dozen games this season. Against Sparta Prague last week, he even scored his first goal for the club. He too very much is regarded as one for the future.

James McConnell and Trey Nyoni also deserve a mention. Meanwhile, Amara Nallo has also sat on the first team bench recently. But while it’s easy to get excited about Liverpool’s current academy stars coming through, it’s also important not to forget about arguably the most exciting player of the lot.

What list has Ben Doak been named on and what has surprised Jurgen Klopp

The player we are talking about is Ben Doak. While all the aforementioned players were brilliant in pre-season, Doak was arguably Liverpool’s most exciting prospect. He dazzled with his brilliant dribbling ability and even got himself on the score-sheet against Leicester City.

His performances were rewarded with a cameo appearance in Liverpool’s first Premier League game of the season against Chelsea. Then Doak also caught the eye in a few Europa League appearances before he was struck by an injury.

Having not featured since the turn of the year, many have almost forgotten about him. However, Goal’s prestigious NXGN list has now sent us a reminder. Doak was included in the top 50 youngsters in world football ranking in 39th place above the likes of Archie Gray and Jobe Bellingham on the list. Which is not a bad place to be in at all.

Doak’s inclusion is definitely deserved. He is a very exciting talent. Liverpool U21 coach Barry Lewtas has described him as ‘special’ in the past [Liverpool ECHO]. Meanwhile, in a previous report, it was claimed that Jurgen Klopp has also been ‘pleasantly surprised’ by Doak’s progress up until his injury this season.
