‘He’s a good lad’: Guglielmo Vicario says £35m player is actually his best mate at Tottenham

Guglielmo Vicario arrived at Tottenham this summer, and it’s fair to say that it hasn’t taken him long to settle at Spurs.

The Italian has immediately established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and he very much looks at home in a Tottenham shirt.

Of course, you need more than just talent to thrive in a new squad, and, by the sounds of it, Vicario is also thriving behind the scenes.

Indeed, speaking on Tottenham’s official YouTube channel, Vicario has noted that he has a number of good friends at Spurs behind the scenes, but he says that Micky Van de Ven is probably his closest friend in the squad.

Micky Van de Ven is Guglielmo Vicario’s best friend

The Italian spoke about the £35m man.

“Who are you tight with in the group, I know you’re popular and you speak to everyone, but who are you closest with?” Vicario was asked.

“I have a good feeling with Micky. He’s a good lad, a very good guy for me. I try to speak with him and we try to help each other. We try to spend a lot of time together with Manor Solomon, Destiny, Cuti, Rodrigo and everyone, we are a big group with good feelings,” Vicario said.

Makes sense

It makes a lot of sense that these two are close friends.

Indeed, they arrived at the club together at basically the same time, and when you come in alongside someone else, it’s only natural to buddy up.

Interesingly, it sounds like Vicario is friendly with a number of the Italian speakers in the group – naming Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero among his best friends in the squad.

It sounds as though there is a real squad harmony in the Tottenham dressing room right now, and that should help Spurs be successful on the pitch now and in the future.
