A Texas woman who's been missing for two weeks was last seen walking her dog. That dog turned up Friday almost 8 miles from where 27-year-old Christina Johnson was last known to be, raising fears for the recent college graduate who'd returned home to plan her next move. "The fact we find Max but not her is very alarming," Johnson's father tells KHOU. "Something ain't right. Obviously, she's in danger." More:

  • Initial alarm: Johnson left her west Houston home with her dog, Max, on the morning of March 6, KHOU reports. She left her phone behind, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Her father, Emmanuel Johnson, says her routine was to take 10-year-old Max and her computer to a local spot to work. She would usually return home by evening, but never did.
  • Dog is found: Max was found Friday amid a violent storm about 7.5 miles northeast of home. He isn't behaving like himself and has taken to hiding under a table, Emmanuel Johnson tells KPRC. "He's scared almost," says Johnson, speculating that the dog had to fend for himself for eight days.
  • Possible sightings: Police are investigating possible sightings of Johnson about 10 miles from home, her father tells KPRC. "I'm not certain about ... the validity of the sightings" but "I'm holding out hope," he says.

  • Her state of mind: A recent graduate of West Virginia's Alderson Broaddus University, Johnson had moved back home to decide her next steps, per KHOU. "I think she may be going through a little depressive state to a certain extent," her father tells KPRC. But he says his daughter would never willingly abandon her dog or stay away from home so long.
  • Tips? Johnson, described as 5'4", 140 pounds, with black and brown hair, was last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and a gray backpack. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Houston Police's Missing Persons Unit at 832-394-1840 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
