Alan Shearer calls out Man Utd fans for ‘all’ thinking same three word-message as ‘unbelievable’ man is praised

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has sent a clear-cut warning to Manchester United fans after the Red Devils’ 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool.

Manchester United produced a sensational performance against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday and punched their ticket to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Amad Diallo, who is suspended after his sending-off, broke the deadlock in extra time and sent Liverpool crashing out of the FA Cup with his superb match-winner.

Following the thrilling 4-3 quarter-final contest at Old Trafford, United learned that their semi-final opponents would be Coventry City at Wembley next month.

Coventry City booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals after a stunning 3-2 upset against Premier League side Wolves at the Molineux on Saturday.

If United are able to beat Coventry City next month, then Erik ten Hag’s men would face the winner of Manchester City vs Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

However, Alan Shearer has now opened up on United’s semi-final draw in the FA Cup and praised one “unbelievable” man ahead of the Coventry City tie in April.

Shearer’s warning to Man Utd fans

Alan Shearer admitted that it was “understandable” to see Manchester United fans wanting Coventry City as their next opponents in the FA Cup.

But the Newcastle legend has insisted that Coventry City will not be easy opponents for United, despite avoiding a draw against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Shearer hailed the “unbelievable” work that Coventry City boss Mark Robins has done at the club and praised their comeback win against Wolves in the FA Cup.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, he said: “They [United, City and Chelsea] were all sat there thinking, ‘We want Coventry,’ which is understandable.

“But Man United got them and it’s not going to be easy for them, by the way. I was really impressed by Coventry.

“Their manager, Mark Robins, is doing an unbelievable job. The way they fought back against Wolves was really, really impressive and it was no fluke [that] they deserved it, they were brilliant.

“But it’s understandable that everyone wanted them in the semi-finals.”

Shearer on Man Utd manager Ten Hag

United manager Erik ten Hag has insisted that he wants the Red Devils to reach the FA Cup final and challenge for major silverware this season.

The Dutchman came within touching distance of the FA Cup trophy last season, only for City to inflict a 2-1 defeat on United in the final at Wembley in 2023.

Ten Hag has faced criticism over United’s underwhelming campaign this season, with the ex-Ajax boss’ future cast in doubt amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival at the club.

Shearer admitted that he is impressed with how Ten Hag has managed to drown out the noise around him and pick up an important result against Liverpool.

“Every single week he probably reads that even if he wins the FA Cup it may not be enough,” he added.

“They’ve got to finish in the top four which is going to be extremely difficult. He’ll read that they’re already speaking to different managers.

“He’s got to put up with all of that, so for him to go in against Liverpool and win in that fashion, and his team are out there scraping and fighting for him, that’s a huge result for him and well done him.”
