'I can feel this now': Guglielmo Vicario shares what he's noticed within the Tottenham squad lately

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has given his verdict on how the Spurs squad is starting to shape up.

Vicario, speaking to the Tottenham media team, said he can now feel the Spurs team’s togetherness and desire to achieve glory.

The Italy goalkeeper has been a revelation since joining Tottenham from Serie A outfit Empoli for a reported £17.2million this summer.

Vicario has been one of numerous crucial signings Ange Postecoglou has made since he took the Spurs reins last year.

The Tottenham boss has also revitalised many of the players who were previously struggling at N17.

The outcome has been a team much improved from last season, with Champions League qualification still a realistic target.

Vicario was asked whether he gets the vibe with the Spurs squad that he can see how things are building.

“Yeah,” he replied. “We are very young, we hope to stay together a long time because I think we have this quality, this togetherness, this desire to stay and to try to do something special. I can feel this now.”

Guglielmo Vicario happy with how Tottenham are developing

Although Tottenham’s shock defeat to Fulham has dampened the atmosphere among fans somewhat, it’s important to take heed of another thing Vicario said in the interview.

Namely, that this season is a starting point for Spurs.

Tottenham have certainly shown that they have what it takes to beat anyone on their day, and with how well they started the season, it looked like some great things are on the cards.

However, it’s never going to be smooth sailing in a league where there’s so much quality in virtually every team. Even the relegation-troubled teams can punish you on their day.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. The main thing for Spurs this season is to try to seal a Champions League spot, but even if they get Europa League, that’s still a major improvement on last season.

And with the Premier League having an increased chance of getting a fifth Champions League slot next term, Tottenham’s job may be a little bit easier. We’ll see at the end of the season.
