Report: Newcastle United are now very worried about their 'frightening' 24-year-old player

Newcastle United are worried they might have to sell one of their top stars this summer, and all the talk is about Bruno Guimaraes.

While it has been claimed that he currently envisions remaining at St James’ Park beyond this summer, his £100million release clause continues to hang over his head. And it will loom even larger if the Magpies fail to qualify for Europe.

Given the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, it has been theorised that selling Bruno Guimaraes is best for business. It would allow Newcastle United to reinvest in multiple players, although that comes with its own risks. There are no guarantees that the players you sign are as good as someone like Bruno, which means the recruitment team are under real pressure to deliver.

But the 26-year-old is not the only major talent who Newcastle could receive interest in come the end of the season.

Newcastle worried about losing Alexander Isak during summer transfer window

According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle are now worried about the interest that Alexander Isak could generate this summer.

They add that Arsenal are considered the most likely team to sign him. Interestingly, they wanted him before his move to Tyneside, while Mikel Arteta’s side were linked earlier this year.

The Gunners look likely to be in the market for a striker this summer, and signing a player who has been likened to Thierry Henry will certainly go down well in North London.

Newcastle must push to keep record signing

While Arsenal would love to have Isak, Newcastle United would hate to lose him.

A move away from St James’ Park would generate a huge fee, but the price to replace the 24-year-old would be ridiculous. After all, it cost £63million to get Isak in the first place, which makes him the most expensive player in Newcastle United history.

With 16 goals to his name this season and a finishing ability that Kieran Trippier says is ‘frightening‘, it would be a disaster if Isak were to leave this summer.

Luckily for Newcastle, he does not have a release clause like Bruno. The only concern will be if Isak pushes for a move, which is always possible if the Magpies fail to qualify for Europe.
