Sheffield Wednesday fans have been given another seriously poor deal for QPR clash

Sheffield Wednesday take on QPR in the Championship next month.

Sheffield Wednesday journey down to West London to face QPR in what should be a huge game near the foot of the Championship table.

As things stand, just two points separate the Owls in 23rd and the R’s in 20th, with both having endured torrid seasons on the whole, but with both finding form ahead of the run-in.

Danny Rohl saw his Wednesday side lose 6-0 vs Ipswich Town last time out, wit back-to-back defeats ending a run of four-straight wins.

Marti Cifuentes at QPR meanwhile hasn’t won in three now, following three-straight wins.

How many tickets have Sheffield Wednesday been given for QPR

Sheffield Wednesday recently announced that the club has been given a ‘full allocation’ of 1,816 tickets for the game at Loftus Road next month; all in the upper tier.

And the news came as a surprise to several Wednesday fans who recall there being an upper and a lower tier for away fans at QPR’s home ground.

Middlesbrough given Upper and lower tier for QPR away this month

QPR’s last home game was a 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough earlier this month.

For that game, Middlesbrough also announced that they had the full allocation, but Boro offered tickets for both the upper and lower tiers at Loftus Road.

In total, adding up all the available upper and lower tier tickets available for Middlesbrough fans to purchase, there was 2,954 tickets on offer, with 1,324 in the lower tier.

Sheffield Wednesday away fans and attendances

Wednesday fans are known for being strong in their numbers on the road.

Despite their struggles on and off the pitch this season, the Wednesday faithful has been in full voice wherever they’ve played, often earning praise from opposition fans for their commitment.

And it’s unlikely, despite the 167-mile drive to London, that Sheffield Wednesday fans would struggle to fill 3,000 away seats at Loftus Road; studies this season have shown Wednesday to be the 7th-best team in the league in terms of away following.

This news of the QPR allocation also comes after Sheffield Wednesday were handed a seemingly lesser allocation for a trip to Middlesbrough which falls before the QPR game.

There may be a simple explanation for the QPR allocation; there could be some renovation works going on in the lower tier, though there’s no reports of such work, or there could be more tickets coming out prior to the game.

Though delaying ticket sales for Sheffield Wednesday fans wouldn’t make that much sense given the fact that Wednesday fans often sell out away games anyway.

There’ll no doubt be cries of controversy from Wednesday fans given the fact that QPR are in a similar predicament to Wednesday and they may not want the Owls faithful in full voice for what is a six-pointer in the Championship.

Time will tell if Sheffield Wednesday have been given a weakened allocation for this game.
