'Not limitless': Bayern Munich director makes transfer admission amid Man City links with Jamal Musiala

Bayern Munich’s recently-hired director of sport has made an admission about his new club which could put Manchester City on red alert.

Max Eberl has only recently taken over his new post at Bayern Munich and he’s joined the club at a tumultuous time.

The German giants are under real threat of losing their grip on the Bundesliga title with undefeated Bayer Leverkusen 10 points clear at the top.

Eberl is also on the hunt for a new manager with Thomas Tuchel leaving at the end of the season and there will no doubt be clamour to spend heavily in the summer to ensure they reclaim the title next season.

However, Eberl has admitted Bayern will have to make sales this summer if they want to invest heavily in the squad again after spending £82m on Harry Kane last year.

It’s an admission that could might well be good news for Manchester City given their recent links with some Bayern stars.

Eberl told SportBild (via Fabrizio Romano): “We’ll have financial chances in the summer, but not limitless.

“New signings include sales in order to have the financial means to do something.

“We can’t make transfers like Kane every summer. We need 14/15 top players.”

Which Bayern Munich players could Manchester City sign?

Despite their struggles in the league this season, Bayern Munich still have several world-class players and are going strong in the Champions League.

City have been heavily linked with two of their biggest stars in recent weeks, with speculation continuing to build around Jamal Musiala especially.

The 21-year-old playmaker has dazzled with his creativity and certainly looks like he would fit in well in Pep Guardiola’s team.

With his current contract set to run out in 2026, Musiala is yet to sign an extension despite his club’s eagerness to secure his future.

Versatile midfielder Joshua Kimmich has also continued to be linked with a switch to the Etihad and the 29-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season.

If Bayern need to sell players to invest, then City could certainly test their resolve for some of their best this summer.
