Netflix adds 2022 comedy starring Pete Davidson, and its insane ending can't be missed

What do you think of when you see A24? If it’s anything other than great movies, you must have yet to familiarize yourself with them. A24 specializes in both TV and movie production and distribution, and it’s been responsible for distributing some of the most popular indie movies in recent years, including the Best Picture Oscar-winner Everything Everywhere All At Once, Talk To Me, and Midsommar. The vast majority of movies they distribute earn critical and audience acclaim, and the latest of their films to hit Netflix, Bodies Bodies Bodies, is no exception.

Bodies Bodies Bodies hits Netflix

Gracing the Netflix library on Wednesday, March 20th 2024, the 2022 movie Bodies Bodies Bodies is billed as an American horror comedy, but honestly, I wouldn’t consider it much of a horror at all—but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Directed by Halina Reijn, it centers around a group of people in their 20s gathering at the remote mansion of the wealthy and arrogant David (played by actor and comedian Pete Davidson).

Conflicts soon begin to present themselves amongst the merging friend group, but events take a deadly turn when one of the attendees is discovered dead with no explanation.

Quite clearly the victim of a sadistic murder, the partygoers believe that the killer is hiding in plain sight within their group, setting off a mystery in which anybody could become the next victim.

One of the biggest joys of the film is watching its cast absolutely cook, including Amandla Stenberg (Dear Evan Hansen) as Sophie, Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) as Bee, and Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) as Alice.

It has a critic score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, but slightly less with its audience score of 69%. One of the reasons it may have a lower audience score? Well, its twist ending is so wild it would always be a little divisive…

Bodies Bodies Bodies ending reactions

Without giving spoilers here, it’s still hilarious to see how polarized the reactions to the movie’s outrageous ending are.

“I had a blast watching Bodies Bodies Bodies,” a fan tweeted. “Some people will hate the ending but for me, it was unexpected and hilarious. You will NOT guess who the killer is. Rachel Sennott is a superstar and the screenplay is brilliantly satirical.”

“Well, I need time to process that ending,” another chimed in, somewhat on the fence about the shock it had in store.

One accused it of being “the worst A24 film and the ending is so dumb.” Another echoed that “the ending kinda fell apart.” Similarly, one tweeted: “Man, that ending to Bodies Bodies Bodies really kind of deflated the movie for me. I get what they were trying to do and say, but oof.”

On the other hand, others have called it “hilarious” and even “the perfect ending.” Now it’s on Netflix, it’s time to see what side of the fence you sit on. For me, the ending elevated it into something that will make a rewatch all the more amusing.

Bodies Bodies Bodies is now on Netflix.
