'Great future': Pablo Sarabia thinks Wolves are sitting on a £35k-a-week player who could become special

Pablo Sarabia is an experienced head in the Wolves dressing room – but he can see that the club are sitting on one player in particular with serious potential.

Sarabia has, in recent weeks, become a hugely important player for Gary O’Neil, who has had to deal with a number of injury problems.

The manager has lost Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto, and so the Spaniard has really become a key player – and he has stepped up.

One other player who has stepped up in recent times is Joao Gomes – and Sarabia has been speaking about the Brazilian ahead of playing against him in the international break…

Spain are taking on Brazil in a friendly match next Tuesday, but before that Brazil face England on Saturday.

It is possible that Gomes could feature against the Three Lions and if he does, it would mean a first-ever senior cap for the former Flamengo star.

Gomes getting called up recently was completely deserved.

The £35,000-a-week star has been a breath of fresh air this season since stepping into the midfield alongside Mario Lemina as Ruben Neves’ replacement.

Sarabia has watched him develop at Molineux, and has insisted the 23-year-old stands to become a really good player in the future. He said (via Wolves official): “We have talked about it when the national team call-ups came out because ours came out after theirs.

“I found out that we were going to face each other and that he was also going. He is a great player who is having a great season and I think he has a great future ahead of him.”

Gomes is going to the top

Wolves signed Gomes for around £15 million in January and it’s safe to say he is already worth considerably more than that.

The South American dynamo just has so much energy and is able to get about the pitch seamlessly, making him a nightmare to play against.

His ball-winning ability is tremendous, with Dave Edwards recently stating it’s perhaps the best he’s seen from any player in a Wolves shirt.

Matt Hobbs recently suggested clubs are already looking at Gomes, so it may be that he doesn’t have a particularly long stint at Molineux.

Hopefully, he will stay for at least one more season. But at the moment, it’s looking like he could become a top-class player.
