'A loser who shamed us!' Trump erupts at retired four-star general

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday attacked a retired four-star general with a decorated career in the American military.

In a post on his Truth Social page, Trump lashed out at Ret. Gen. Mark Milley, who served as Trump's own chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during his first term.

"Mark Milley is a loser who shamed us in Afghanistan and elsewhere!" Trump wrote.

The timing of Trump's outburst is odd given that Milley this week delivered testimony to Congress that reflected poorly on President Joe Biden's administration, which he said waited far too long to evacuate American personnel from Afghanistan, resulting in a chaotic and poorly planned exit for the United States after having been in the country for 20 years.

“The fundamental mistake, the fundamental flaw was the timing of the State Department,” Milley said during his testimony on Capitol Hill this week. “That was too slow and too late.”

However, Trump has long feuded with Milley after it was revealed that the retired general reached out to reassure Chinese officials in the waning days of Trump's administration that the American military would not allow him to launch an unjustified war against them in a bid to remain in the White House despite having lost the election to Biden.

This led for Trump to call for Milley's execution, despite the fact that Milley committed no crime in working to prevent a massive international war between two of the world's most powerful countries.

Milley, for his part, has been unsparing in his views of the former president, whom he labeled a "wannabe dictator" during his retirement speech last year.

Trump, who never served in the military, has nonetheless a lengthy history of attacking military veterans, including the late Sen. John McCain and Ret. Gen. John Kelly, his former chief of staff.
