Report: Aston Villa now hopeful 'outstanding' 22-year-old ace will finally return for Wolves clash

Several members of Aston Villa’s squad have jetted off on international duty over the last couple of days, with there just over a week until the Villans’ Premier League clash against Wolves.

The break feels like it’s come at a good time, with Villa coming off the back of just one point in their previous two league fixtures.

The draw against West Ham felt rather fortunate, particularly given the VAR controversy towards the end of the game. For Unai Emery, it was a case of taking the point and swiftly moving on; there’s every chance the London Stadium draw will be vital come the end of the campaign.

Next up is a derby clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park. The evening kick-off on Saturday, March 30th, is an opportunity to rectify the damaging home loss to Tottenham.

And, ahead of the fixture, there is hope one of the club’s “outstanding” young players will be back in contention.

Aston Villa hopeful of Wolverhampton Wanderers return for ‘outstanding’ midfielder

Jacob Ramsey was forced off during Villa’s last-gasp win over Luton Town and hasn’t featured since.

The 22-year-old missed both legs against Ajax, Tottenham and the West Ham fixture. However, positive news has now emerged.

According to The Express and Star, Villa remain hopeful that Ramsey will return for Gary O’Neil’s side’s visit.

The foot injury is not considered serious after initial concern. The academy product missed the start of the campaign with a fractured foot before sustaining a recurrence in September.

The report also suggests the midfielder is the only other current injury concern.

What does Aston Villa’s injury situation currently look like?

Despite Ramsey being the only current concern, Villa still have several players in the Bodymoor Heath treatment room.

Tyrone Mings has been spotted in light training; however, the 31-year-old won’t return until next season. It’s a similar story for Emi Buendia, with Emery confirming he would like the 27-year-old to return to training before the end of the current campaign.

Boubacar Kamara is another long-term absentee. The 24-year-old Frenchman is expected to be out until October, with a long-term knee injury picked up during the home defeat against Manchester United.

Luckily for Emery, Ollie Watkins’ knock against Ajax wasn’t severe, and Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa, and Diego Carlos appear to be back to full fitness.
