Israel raids Gaza's Al-Shifa hospital, as drone bombs Jenin

Israel's raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City spilled into a fourth day as reports emerged that the army had blown up buildings inside the medical compound and ordered people sheltering inside to leave, including hundreds of sick and displaced families.

The Israeli military said its "precise operation" killed "more than 50 terrorists" in the past day in a statement on Thursday. It added that it had killed "over 140 terrorists" inside the hospital complex, which it claims is a Hamas base, since the offensive began on Monday.

Medical workers and humanitarian agencies have expressed alarm at the attack on the hospital, which marks the fourth invasion of Gaza's largest hospital since the war began.

Over in the occupied West Bank, overnight Wednesday Israel launched a major military raid on the city of Tulkarem and the nearby Nur Shams camp following a deadly drone attack on a car in Jenin which killed three men. Four people were killed during the clashes at Nur Shams, the Palestinian Red Crescent said on Thursday.

Since the outbreak of war in Gaza, tensions have also flared in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 435 Palestinians since October.
