Drone attacks halt nitrate transshipment at large St Petersburg port, causing significant cargo loss

Large port of St. Petersburg

Local authorities are planning to move the transshipment of nitrate outside the city, presumably to Ust-Luga.

According to the newspaper, this means the loss of 3 million tons of cargo per year for the port of St. Petersburg.

"For the port, which is already in a difficult position due to the loss of trade operations with Europe, this is a rather significant blow," Kommersant writes.

Ust-Luga is being considered as a new site for the transshipment of nitrate. According to the newspaper, the town is, however, not ready to receive nitrate at the moment, as the port needs to modernize its infrastructure.
