‘Not the case’: Mark Guidi has shared what he knows about Callum McGregor’s injury at Celtic

Brendan Rodgers has had some real bad luck this season with injuries at Celtic and Callum McGregor is the latest worry.

The Celtic captain has been pivotal in the team’s success over the past two seasons and to have him out at this stage of the season is a huge blow for Rodgers.

The Hoops gaffer has struggled to find a suitable replacement for Reo Hatate all season so finding one for McGregor seems like mission impossible for the Celtic boss.

There were rumours circulating on social media not too long ago where fans were claiming they’d heard McGregor would miss the rest of Celtic’s season.

Obviously the panic caused by McGregor’s absence started that particular rumour but that was laid to rest by Brendan Rodgers when he confirmed that the Celtic captain would be back after the international break.

However, what isn’t known is whether McGregor is ready for the Livingston game on the 31st of March. Will he even be fit for the Glasgow Derby?

Journalist, Mark Guidi, has shared what he knows about the Celtic captain’s situation.

McGregor may not be fit for Livingston

The experienced journalist seems to be making moves to put the Celtic fans’ minds at rest as he joins Rodgers in rubbishing the rumours that McGregor could be out for months.

Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I don’t know the exact timeframe from being back for Celtic but I think it’ll be sooner rather than later.

“But certainly there’s absolutely no long-term concerns. For example, being ready for the Scottish Cup semi-final and being ready for the Euros, there’s no concern about that.

“Whether he’s back in time for the end of the month for going to Livingston, I’m not too sure about that.

“But there’s nothing to suggest that he could be out for two, three or four months. That’s not the case at all.”

Hopefully, McGregor will be fit for the Ibrox game because facing the Ibrox side without the captain and Reo Hatate is not even worth contemplating.

McGregor must be left out of the Livingston game. That artificial pitch is not a good surface for any injured player to make their return to the Celtic first team and hopefully, then, he will have recovered enough to start at Ibrox on the 7th of April.
