Newark Sea Cadets awarded prestigious burgee for 2023 season in the Sea Cadets Corps

A youth group has been recognised with the highest scoring efficiency award for their outstanding performance.

Newark Sea Cadets were awarded a prestigious burgee for the 2023 season in the Sea Cadets Corps.

The recognition is a testament to the unit’s exceptional dedication, skills and hard work, marking a milestone with the highest score ever received by the unit.

Sub-lieutenant Simon Cullen RNR, the commanding officer of Newark Sea Cadets said to be proud of the unit’s achievement, attributing this success to the collective effort of the adult volunteers and, most notably, the cadets themselves.

“This award is a monumental achievement for Newark Sea Cadets, reflecting the unwavering dedication and spirit of our cadets and volunteers. Their hard work, resilience, and teamwork have truly set a new standard of excellence for our unit,” said Sub-lieutenant Cullen.

The cadets were said to have demonstrated remarkable commitment throughout the year, participating in numerous courses, Offshores, and boating sessions.

Side by side with their accomplishment, the club announced it is currently recruiting new cadets aged 10 to 18.

The club is an opportunity for young people to learn new skills, build confidence, make lifelong friendships and contribute to their personal development and success of the the unit.
