David Potts is set to share his dad's heartwarming response to him coming out as gay in the latest Celebrity Big Brother episode.

The Ibiza Weekender star, 30, opens up to Fern Britton about his childhood on Thursday night's episode of the ITV show. In a teaser, he reveals: "The bullying started in year 8, because when I was in year 7 going into high school my older brother was in year 11, so it didn’t really happen then.” Fern asks: “And you were 11, 12 - did you know you were gay?"

David replies: “I knew there was something different at that stage, I mean I was like 12 so I didn't know a hundred percent what it was, but I just knew it was different because I did have girlfriends and stuff, when I knew deep down that it wasn't true. I left school when I was 16 and then that summer holidays as soon as I'd finished high school that's when I came out and told everyone.”

Fern responds: “Brilliant, tell me about that moment!” David continues: “I went home sat my mum down, told her and she was like it's fine, I know, she was like don't worry about it like it's okay. I could just hear my dad walking up the stairs and I remember I was sat in my bedroom on my bed and I was so scared.

"He was like 'are you alright?' And I was like 'yeah are you?' and he was like 'oh your mum's just told me what you had a discussion with her about earlier', and he went, 'you don't need to worry, it's not gonna change a single thing' and then he gave me a hug." David made a name for himself on Ibiza Weekender and has since appeared on shows including the likes of Celebs Go Dating, and Celebs on the Farm.

He has won over his housemates and a whole new legion of fans since appearing on Celebrity Big Brother. The TV star is now said to be in the two horse race to win the show, according to bookies. David has made it as a finalist alongside Louis Walsh, Fern Britton, Nikita Kuzmin, Colson Smith and Bradley Riches. However, one of the final six is due to be axed from the house - meaning they will just miss out on the prize.

Heading into the final, bookies have declared it is now just a two horse race between Louis and David. The X Factor icon is 4/6 favourite to win, while David is close behind at 6/4. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Plenty have headed the betting throughout the series but punters now seem to think it's a straight two-horse race between David and Louis, with the latter on course for one of the biggest upsets we've seen in CBB history... having been a 40/1 shot less than a week ago."
