'Step out of the hole’: Alan Stubbs demands Richard Masters do one thing after Everton & Forest deduction

Everton’s treatment at the hands of the Premier League this season has been nothing short of abysmal.

They have dragged them down and messed them about in a way never really seen before in the top flight, and it could well end in their relegation should they succumb to a significant second deduction.

But that is something that many high-profile figures are seeing to ward off, with their support against such tyranny useful in repelling absolute power.

Alan Stubbs is the latest to reaffirm his position.

Taking to X, as he has done so often this season to voice his grievances, the former Everton defender was passionate in his calls for Richard Masters to do one thing in the wake of this latest Nottingham Forest deduction.

Naturally frustrated with the scale of that sanction compared to his own club’s, he would vent such anger at the CEO of the Premier League whilst also detailing his disgust and confusion with the situation.

He wrote: ‘@premierleague just out of interest and clarification, could Richard Masters please step out of the hole he has made for himself and give us a clue wtf is going on!! Surely that’s not too much to ask for’.

Everton have been fortunate with high-profile supporters

It is admirable the amount of support that Everton have managed to rally throughout this tumultuous period, kickstarted back in November when that first ten-point deduction was administered.

And, it feels like as time has gone on, that has only grown.

After all, not only do those who care about the club and the city now have a vested interest in a movement towards the Toffees gaining justice, but also newer high-profile names who are just sick and tired of all the financial jargon that has polluted the beautiful game.

A sport that was built by the working-class fans who popularised it has been taken and dangerously distorted beyond repair.
