2 arrests made in killing at N.J. apartment complex, 1 accused shooter still at large

UPDATE: Man sought in fatal shooting surrenders to police

Authorities have arrested two men in a shooting that left one dead at a South Jersey apartment complex earlier this month, while the third accused shooter is still at large.

The men are accused of gunning down 35-year-old Dashon Lee at the Asselta Acres Apartments in Vineland on the morning of Saturday, March 9, the Cumberland County Prosecutors Office said.

Jamin Carney, 28, of Millville and Chavez Mills, 26, of Vineland, were both charged on March 14. Carney was charged with murder and conspiracy, while Mills faces the charge of conspiracy to commit murder. Mills was arrested that same day and Carney was apprehended a day later.

Angel A. Aguero, 31, the first alleged shooter to be charged, is considered a fugitive. Authorities said on March 13 that he was armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Aguero has been charged with murder and multiple weapons offenses.

Police were responding to a reported shooting at the apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. on March 9 when they found Lee, a Vineland resident, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was brought to Inspira Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead that same day, officials said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Aguero’s whereabouts to call 1-877-WANTED-2 or submit an online tip at www.usmarshals.gov.
