Danilo provides Rangers fans with an injury update as Nils Koppen reacts to Brazilian's latest message

Danilo has posted a video on social media showcasing how much progress he has made since his devastating knee injury before Christmas.

The Brazilian striker was fielded from the start in a Scottish Premiership away clash against Hearts on December 6 but was forced off in the second-half.

He limped off the park and it appeared not too much damage had been done to the former Feyenoord star.

But it was later revealed Danilo – who signed for a reported £6m in the summer – would be facing an extremely lengthy period on the sidelines with a collateral knee ligament injury.

The 24-year-old was initially ruled out for after the winter break in January but it was later discovered he would be missing at least four months of action after contributing 11 goal contributions in 21 games for the Ibrox giants [Transfermarkt].

Danilo has been extremely transparent with Rangers fans over the course of his recovery and has posted a number of progress videos and messages on social media.

He last updated his followers at the beginning of March and he revealed he was ‘almost there’ in terms of making a comeback to the Rangers first-team squad.

Now, Danilo has taken to his X account to share his latest positive update.

Danilo posts 19-word injury progress message

Danilo is likely to be out for the rest of the season but Rangers fans will be holding onto hope that they can see him feature perhaps for one or two of the post-split fixtures.

If he is fit for a couple of those games, there is a chance he won’t make the pitch even as a substitute anyway.

It will depend on the gravity of the Scottish Premiership title race and the need for match-ready players to make a difference at a crucial stage.

There’s a way to go before worrying about that, however, and the focus for Danilo at the moment is continuing is long and arduous recovery back to full fitness.

On the evening of March 21, Danilo posted this message to his followers on X alongside a video of him in the gym: “Getting better, every day and can’t wait to be back on the pitch doing what I love the most”.

Rangers director of football Nils Koppen, who joined the club four days before Danilo’s horror injury against Hearts in December, was keen to offer his support to Danilo with a reply.

He simply reacted to the video with a 👌 emoji before Rangers fans inundated his post with summer signing recommendations including Lawrence Shankland and Kilmarnock’s David Watson.

One fan said: “Get me some south American wonderkids and you can have whatever you want from me”.

Another posted: “The young lad from Kilmarnock, Armstrong Nils”.

This supporter wrote: “David Watson & Lennon miller”.

While this Rangers fan asked: “Sign Shankland Koppen?”
