Report: Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already told Man Utd to sign 22-goal contribution midfielder this summer

Manchester United are keen on signing a midfielder this summer, and now Sir Jim Ratcliffe has recommended one he’d love to sign.

The midfield department at Old Trafford is one position that Manchester United are expected to be keen on strengthening this summer.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen could both be on their way out of the club this summer. Eriksen has already mentioned his unhappiness over his current bit-part role.

This could lead to an addition or two if both leave and now a report has shared Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s pick to come into the midfield group.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already recommended Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

With a midfielder on the cards this summer, Ratcliffe has advised the Old Trafford recruitment team to take a serious look at Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

According to 90min journalist Ben Jacobs, United have now enquired over a £25m bargain signing of Dewsbury-Hall who has aspirations higher than his current level.

£25m is the fee tipped should Leicester City by some miraculous event end up failing to gain promotion to the Premier League, while £40m is the fee if they do get promoted.

The interest is reported to have come from Ratcliffe who has advised the recruitment team that a player like Dewsbury-Hall could offer ‘value and versatility’.

Leicester could also be forced into a sale with PSR compliance in mind after the Premier League charged the Foxes with a breach as per BBC Sport.

While for Dewsbury-Hall it could be a chance to realise his ambitions of challenging for an England place, as playing for United would better his chances of a call-up.

Where does Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall fit into Manchester United?

Dewsbury-Hall has had a phenomenal season in the Championship for Leicester with 10 goals and 12 assists this season in the league according to WhoScored.

As a midfielder, he can play both as a number 10 and also as an eight, sitting further back perhaps in a midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

We struggle to see a team with Dewsbury-Hall starting in the strongest line-up for United, but as an option in the group of Bruno Fernandes, Mainoo, Mason Mount and Scott McTominay he wouldn’t be out of place.

For the cheaper reported fee of £25m, he’d be a bargain and would offer some real depth and quality for United, along with fitting the homegrown quota.

At just 25, he still has space to grow and improve his game, learning under Bruno is probably an excellent move for him and if he is signed, effectively to replace Eriksen, we’d be all for it.
