Report: Manchester Utd want to sign 'outstanding' £25m midfielder but he'd rather sign for Tottenham

Both Manchester United and Tottenham will be active in the summer transfer window as they look for big improvements.

Tottenham’s season has gone well under Ange Postecoglou in his first year at the club. Daniel Levy is expected to back his man in the summer as well, with Albert Gudmundsson among the players already being linked.

For Manchester United, the Jim Ratcliffe era is set to begin. And with that new beginning, new signings will be expected.

In particular, United could well need midfielders. Casemiro could be on his way and Christian Eriksen is also facing an uncertain future. And while Kobbie Mainoo is emerging as a special player in the middle, more will be needed for United to really compete.

However, it looks like United could have plans as 90Min reports today that Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a player being looked at by United, albeit, there is a Spurs-shaped problem in the way.

Manchester United looking at Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall but he prefers Tottenham move

According to the report from 90Min, United are among the clubs to declare an interest in signing Dewsbury-Hall.

It’s suggested that Brighton are in the mix to sign him, while we already know of Arsenal’s interest.

Interestingly, it’s suggested if Leicester don’t go up then the midfielder will be available for around £25m.

However, despite United’s interest, it is Tottenham who are mentioned as the club who the midfielder would like to join the most.

It’s claimed that James Maddison has personally recommended Dewsbury-Hall to him and while there’s no direct interest from Spurs just yet, it’s something to watch.

Dewsbury-Hall is good enough

Much like when Maddison moved in the summer, there’ll be eyes on Dewsbury-Hall if he does get a mov to one of the big clubs this year.

He is definitely good enough, though. Lauded by Martin Keown as an ‘outstanding’ talent, the potential is definitely there for Dewsbury-Hall to succeed higher up the ladder.

Of course, Leicester would love to keep their man. But with FFP problems, the Foxes might have to cash in even if they’re promoted, opening the door to a move.

Tottenham seems like a logical destination for someone like Dewsbury-Hall, especially with the Maddison link.

But we can’t discount Man United either. And with money to spend and new ownership looking to make an impression, a bid could well be on its way.
