'I remember': Jordan Pickford shares what was said about Kobbie Mainoo in the Everton dressing room

Jordan Pickford has now shared what was said about Manchester United No.37 Kobbie Mainoo in the Everton dressing room earlier this season.

The England international made the comments when speaking to talkSPORT.

So, what did Jordan Pickford say about Manchester United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo? Let’s take a look…

What was said about Kobbie Mainoo in Everton dressing room

Well, the 18-year-old actually made his first Premier League start against Everton at Goodison Park back in November, and Sean Dyche even highlighted the teenager’s presence in the dressing room.

Pickford said: “I think he made his full debut against us at Goodison Park. I remember the manager mentioning that they had the young lad playing centre-mid.

“I knew already that he was a top player, from what I had heard. He has shone for Man United this season and he has kept his spot. I have only trained with him for a day but in his performances for Man United he looks so calm on the ball and he plays with such maturity.”

Very few people knew about Mainoo when his name appeared in the starting XI back in November as Manchester United recorded a 3-0 win over Everton, but they do now.

Manchester United No.37 is a special talent

The Stockport-born maestro has taken to senior football like a duck to water, receiving huge praise left, right and centre.

Ian Wright has already said that Mainoo is doing “unbelievable things” on the pitch, with Gary Lineker adding that his efforts have been “remarkable” this season.

Jurgen Klopp even gave the youngster a high five as he came off the pitch in Manchester United’s recent 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool, which pretty much says it all.

On his aforementioned full debut against Everton, Mainoo embarked on two successful dribbles in just 71 minutes of action – more than any other player on the pitch – while also making two interceptions, two clearances, one tackle and one block.

He also completed 46 passes – as shown by WhoScored.

It was obvious that Mainoo was special from the opening minutes of that 3-0 win for Manchester United, and if he keeps this up, he could well be starting for England at UEFA EURO 2024 this summer.
