Ian Wright in awe at Man Utd talent’s ‘impressive performance’ in ‘massive’ match, he did ‘unbelievable things’

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted that one Manchester United star is a “massive problem for everybody” and impressed in the Red Devils’ FA Cup win over Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag received a massive boost ahead of the March international break after Manchester United dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup quarter-finals last week.

A stunning cameo from Amad Diallo, who scored the winner against Liverpool, was enough to punch United’s ticket to Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals next month.

Amad Diallo linked up superbly well with Alejandro Garnacho during a United counterattack in the second half of extra time at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Alejandro Garnacho played the ball back to Diallo during the injury-time counterattack before the 21-year-old Ivorian put the ball in the back of the net.

United can now book their place in the FA Cup final if they beat Coventry City, who caused a stunning 3-2 upset against Wolves at the Molineux in their quarter-final tie.

United manager Erik ten Hag had been keen to ensure his side’s place at Wembley, having fallen short of the FA Cup trophy last season at the hands of Manchester City.

The Dutchman is hopeful of United securing a major piece of silverware this season, as well as the Red Devils mounting a successful Premier League top-four challenge.

Ian Wright has now revealed that one United star produced a “very impressive” performance in a “massive” match ahead of the international break.

Wright praises Man Utd star’s development

Ian Wright said that Red Devils winger Alejandro Garnacho did “some unbelievable things” for Manchester United in the FA Cup showdown against Liverpool.

Garnacho’s brother raved about the United star’s performance against the Reds, along with revealing to Red Devils supporters a hidden detail about his sibling.

The 19-year-old Spain-born winger has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford and continued his development in the first team under United boss Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag is a big admirer of Garnacho and the Argentina international has become a regular starter for United in the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Speaking on The Ringer’s Wrighty’s House podcast (via the Metro), Wright said: “I need to mention Garnacho because he is a massive problem for everybody.

“In spells and in moments during that game, he was doing some unbelievable things.

“I thought it was a very impressive performance in a massive game for him, especially considering his age.

“As soon as they get the structure right around him, he can start to learn more and know where he needs to be in a game because at the moment it’s so chaotic in there.

“But if that happens, then we’re really going to see the best of him, we really are.”

Ten Hag impressed with Garnacho’s standards

Ten Hag has been thrilled with the development of both Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, with the latter enjoying a remarkable season at Old Trafford.

However, the former Ajax boss has warned the aforementioned pair that they must maintain their high standards in the United first team going forward.

“But they [Garnacho and Mainoo] are just on the start of the journey, and that is also what they have to understand,” Ten Hag told TNT Sports.

“They are now in the first team, but getting here is much more easy than staying here, and there’s going to be a big fight for them [to do that].”
