Newly-elected Chatteris councillor calls for volunteers to help with Speedwatch campaign

A recently-elected Chatteris councillor has kickstarted his work by starting a Speedwatch campaign.

British Democrat Ken Perrin said that he had received a large number of complaints of drivers carrying out wheelies and doughnuts at the junction of Station Street and Station Road in Chatteris.

Ken has contacted Speedwatch through Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the first task is to get community-minded people to volunteer for the scheme. Police will give full training to all volunteers.

The speed watch will take place along Station Street in Chatteris

Cllr Perrin said: “My job is to listen to and act upon the electorate's requests and concerns. This was a big concern for many.

“It really is a dangerous form of anti-social behaviour and I have been asked to address it.”

He added: “Speedwatch is not only for the Station Street area, it must and will be available throughout Chatteris for the benefit and safety of all the community.”
