Every international fixture remaining for the Leeds United players representing their country

Leeds United return to Championship action in six days’ time with a Good Friday trip to Watford.

While those who are not away with their respective country have had a nice 12-day break to prepare for the game, the vast majority of Daniel Farke’s squad are currently away on international duty.

Farke will be praying that all his players report back to Thorp Arch next week with a clean bill of health ahead of what looks set to be an incredible promotion run-in.

Several Leeds players have already played for their nation over the last couple of days, some certainly in far more important matches than others.

So, with that in mind, here is a look at all of the remaining fixtures for the Leeds contingent away on international duty.

Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Dan James, Connor Roberts – Wales

Leeds’ Welsh quartet undoubtedly face the most important fixture of any of the Whites players representing their country.

Wales faced Glen Kamara’s Finland in their first match as Dan James got on the scoresheet from the bench to round off an emphatic 4-1 victory.

That win saw Wales progress through to a play-off final against Poland, with the winner qualifying for the upcoming European Championships this summer.

Junior Firpo – Dominican Republic

Having pledge his allegiance to the country of his birth, Junior Firpo is actually representing the Dominican Republic’s senior international team for the first time.

Firpo is the only player from Leeds’ internationals still with two matches remaining, the first of which takes place tonight.

Due to the scheduling of the second game, Firpo is already looking highly unlikely to start in Leeds’ first game back at Watford.

  • Wednesday 27 March vs Peru, kick-off 1.30am [friendly]

Ilia Gruev – Bulgaria

With Bulgaria not actually coming close to even making the play-offs of their EUROs qualifying group, it is just a couple of friendly matches for Ilia Gruev.

The 23-year-old played the first of those away in Azerbaijan last night, completing 90 minutes as Bulgaria ran out 1-0 winners over Tanzania.

Having established himself as a key player at Leeds recently, Farke will be hoping he comes through the second meaningless friendly unscathed.

  • Monday 25 March vs Azerbaijan, kick-off 4pm [friendly]

Liam Cooper – Scotland

Just like he has been for much of the season at Leeds, Liam Cooper was an unused substitute for Scotland in their 4-0 defeat at Netherlands last night.

Cooper still has some work to do if he is to make Scotland’s final squad for the EUROs in the summer and so will be hoping he can play some part of their second match.

This is looking set to be Cooper’s last six weeks in a Leeds shirt, though, and so will be eager to ensure he returns fit in order to play some part of the run-in.

  • Tuesday 26 March vs Northern Ireland, kick-off 7.45pm [friendly]

Archie Gray and Charlie Cresswell – England U21s

Archie Gray marked his England U21s debut with a goal from the bench just five minutes after coming on in a 5-1 win over Azerbaijan yesterday lunchtime.

Charlie Cresswell, meanwhile, was an unused substitute, as his frustrating season with a lack of game time continued.

The Young Lions face another relatively straight forward looking encounter in the second match of the break, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if both started.

  • Tuesday 26 March vs Luxembourg U21s, kick-off 7pm [U21s EUROs qualifier]

Willy Gnonto – Italy U21s

Despite some excellent form at club level for Leeds recently, Willy Gnonto missed out on a place in Italy’s senior side for the second consecutive time.

Gnonto has instead been named in the nation’s U21s’ squad, who kicked off this international break with a 2-0 win over Latvia last night, in which the Leeds star was captain.

The 20-year-old will be eager to impress in the second match with it still possible he could make Italy’s squad for the upcoming EUROs.

  • Tuesday 26 March vs Turkey U21s, kick-off 5.15pm [U21s EUROs qualifier]

Mateo Joseph – Spain U21s

Mateo Joseph committed his future to the Spanish national team last week having previously represented England at U20s level.

He made his debut for Spain’s U21s side on Thursday night in a friendly with Slovakia, playing the full second half in a 2-0 defeat.

It is back to qualifying duties in their next match, though, and Joseph will be hopeful of earning a start.
