'Brilliant': Pundit says £60m striker who could reportedly join Tottenham 'offers the same as what Kane does'

Tottenham have now been told that a striker they could sign this summer operates in a very similar fashion to Harry Kane.

It was Clinton Morrison who made the comments when speaking on Sky Sports.

So, which striker plays like Harry Kane and could join Tottenham this summer? Let’s take a look…

Ivan Toney compared to Harry Kane

Well – according to Alasdair Gold of Football London – Ivan Toney could join Tottenham this summer.

The reliable journalist said: “The big odds were on him to go to Arsenal, but that doesn’t seem to be as strong a link anymore at all. I wonder if in classic Spurs style they look at a player with a year left on his contract. In that system, he would get so many goals. I wouldn’t rule that out entirely, he would be a fantastic addition.”

Now, the Brentford No.17 has been compared to Kane – a player who obviously enjoyed great success at Tottenham.

When discussing the difference between Aston Villa No.11 Ollie Watkins and Toney, Morrison said: “Toney offers the same as what Kane does. He’s brilliant with his penalties, defending his box and gets goals.”

The 28-year-old scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season, with only Kane and Erling Haaland netting more in England’s top-flight.

Tottenham need a focal point

Ange Postecoglou has got Spurs playing some beautiful football, which has seen 59 goals scored in 28 Premier League appearances.

However, there have been a few games where opposition sides seem to have Tottenham figured out, as we saw in the recent 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

In tricky encounters like that clash at Craven Cottage, Tottenham’s need for a physical focal point – who can hold the ball up and also net a gritty goal out of nothing – is very obvious.

A traditional No.9 like Kane or Toney, someone who is not only a physical presence, but can also cause havoc with their feet, is just what Postecoglou needs to compliment the likes of Heung-min Son and James Maddison.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, amid reports Brentford could sell the England international for £60m this summer – he will soon have just 12 months remaining on his contract.
