Report: Chelsea are enquiring about signing 30-year-old forward, Pochettino once compared him to Ronaldo

When the transfer window opens, Chelsea could end up signing a striker that they have not been too heavily linked with.

Right now, there is a lot of talk about Chelsea bringing in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, for example.

It was recently claimed that the Blues had scouts in attendance to watch the Sweden international in his country’s 5-2 defeat against Portugal.

As he has been doing all season, Gyokeres once again managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

However, while the 25-year-old is having a sensational season in front of goal, he may not be the centre-forward Chelsea go on to sign, with it now being reported that they could register an interest in AS Roma’s Paulo Dybala.

Chelsea could make move for Paulo Dybala this summer

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea and Barcelona could both register an interest in Dybala, who is yet to discuss a new contract with Roma.

In fact, the same outlet has claimed that the Blues have already collected some preliminary information on the Argentine.

His existing deal at the Stadio Olimpico expires in 2025, so if he does not sign an extension, then Roma could be forced to sell.

It is a signing that Mauricio Pochettino would likely welcome, as the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur manager has spoken highly about his compatriot in the past.

What exactly has Mauricio Pochettino said about Paulo Dybala?

It is fair to say that Pochettino is a fan of the Argentina international.

“Like [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Neymar, he has the ability to give the team lots of alternative options,” the Chelsea boss was quoted saying about Dybala back in 2018.

His goal record in Serie A has been good this season, with the 30-year-old scoring 12 goals in 20 appearances. He has also provided seven assists, so this is a forward who has been extremely dangerous in the final third.

Dybala is not getting any younger, but perhaps this young Chelsea side could do with a player of his experience.
