World-leading data experts predict where West Ham will finish this season

West Ham have nine games to go in the Premier League this season and there’s everything to play for including a bit of history.

The international break may be boring.

But when it’s over, West Ham’s run-in for the remainder of the Premier League and European season promises to be anything but.

The Hammers play eight hugely important games between March 30th and April 27th.

That includes their two-legged Europa League quarter-final against Bayer Leverkusen.

West Ham face hectic and exciting run-in

Not to mention big clashes at home against the likes of Spurs and Liverpool.

West Ham are looking to make a third straight European semi-final.

And David Moyes’ side are also aiming to make more club history by securing European qualification for a fourth successive season.

West Ham’s current position of seventh in the Premier League standings would be enough to do that after Liverpool won the Carabao Cup.

But can Moyes’ side hold on?

History beckons for West Ham

Well now world-leading data experts have predicted where West Ham will finish in the Premier League this season.

Opta provides data for more than 30 sports in over 70 countries, with clients ranging from leagues and federations to broadcasters and companies.

They are the standard-bearer when it comes to football data and analytics.

And they predict West Ham will get 11 points from their remaining nine games to end the season on 55.

Opta calculate that will see the Hammers finish eighth behind Newcastle – who they face in a crunch clash next weekend.

The good news for West Ham is that will likely be good enough to qualify for Europe again.

And that’s thanks in part to the club’s own excellent record on the continent.

England are on course to get an extra Champions League spot this season. And depending on who wins the FA Cup Europe could go down to eighth or ninth in the Prem.

But Moyes’ side should still be aiming for seventh to make sure.

The Hammers can of course also qualify by winning the Europa League. That would be rewarded with a place in the Champions League.

Opta predicts Man City retain the league title with Liverpool second and Arsenal third.
