Britain warns Russian dictator Vladimir Putin not to use the terrorist attack in the Moscow region as an excuse to escalate the war, according to The Telegraph.
A high-ranking source in British security services notes that Putin's desire to blame Ukraine is not surprising, as he is trying to further deceive the Russian people by pretending that there is no dissent within Russia.
"He must not use this confected connection as any sort of excuse for intensifying his illegal war in Ukraine," the sources say.
Chair of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee Alicia Kearns noted that Russian media spread fake videos featuring Ukrainian officials, attempting to blame Ukraine and provide Putin with a pretext for further atrocities.
"There is no indication of any link to Ukraine, nor any credible reason to suggest their involvement," she said.
What is known about terrorist attack
On Friday evening, March 22, in the city of Krasnogorsk in the Moscow region, several armed men in camouflage carried out a shooting at the Crocus City Mall. According to the Russians, over 100 people were killed in the attack.
Earlier, some media outlets claimed that the attack was organized by the ISIS group. However, other sources refute this information.
Russian law enforcement agencies stated that they had detained four individuals involved in the terrorist attack. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed that the terrorists supposedly wanted to escape to Ukraine, where a "window" had been prepared for them.
Olexander Musiienko, the Head of the Center for Military Legal Studies, commented to RBC-Ukraine that the ISIS group could have carried out the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall shopping center near Moscow, but Putin does not acknowledge this.
