Man Utd's Rasmus Hojlund "ready to boil over" as furious reaction to team-mates spotted

By Josh O'Brien

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was notably frustrated throughout Denmark's 0-0 draw against Switzerland on Saturday night.

The two nations met for a friendly fixture, but Hojlund was reported to have looked like he was 'ready to boil over' by Danish publication BT. The young forward has recently just started to find form in a United shirt after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford following his mega-money move from Serie A side Atalanta in the summer.

Hojlund went his first 14 Premier League games without a goal, before at long last finding the net during the Boxing Day win over Aston Villa. Since then, the Denmark international has barely looked back for his club, boasting seven goals and two assists in the league overall.

With that being said, he struggled to maintain that same form for his national side during this international break. Hojlund didn't even last the full 90 minutes and was withdrawn seven minutes before the full-time whistle, but not before he made his anger clear on the pitch.

Having taken up a number of promising positions throughout the game only to be ignored by his team-mates, the striker is believed to have screamed in fury multiple times. Hojlund wasn't the only United representative on the pitch, with Red Devils midfielder Christian Eriksen also starring for the entire fixture.

Eriksen hasn't had the luxury of featuring for United as much as he'd like recently. Hojlund actually went public with his desire to see his fellow countryman get more time on the pitch at Old Trafford.

"I myself have sat on the bench for Copenhagen, so I know what that means," Hojlund told TV2. "But he holds his head high and he is a class player. There is absolutely no doubt about that.

"There is no concern at all from me about it. Of course, you want to play football. And I’m sure he does too. [But] he trains well and is still very positive and very helpful, so it’s not a big deal. He is a real professional.

"It was good he got some minutes against Liverpool. I think he did really well when he came on. He is a good player, so you would like to see him on the field, but we have many good players. So it must be the coach’s decision whether he plays or not."
