Report: Manchester City could now make move to sign £60m player who’s wanted by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Manchester City now reportedly hold an interest in signing a defensive target of Ange Postecoglou’s at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have already bolstered their options at centre-back recently by bringing in Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

The 22-year-old is yet to get a run in the side following his January switch to north London but did start last time out at Fulham.

Yet, Spurs are expected to dip into the market for another option in the position this summer after Ange Postecoglou admitted they could look at signing a defender.

One man who continues to be linked with a summer switch to Spurs is Jarrad Branthwaite.

Indeed, it has already been claimed that Postecoglou is personally pushing for the signing of the Everton star.

Tottenham already face competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid for his signature. Now, it would appear that Man City have entered the race to sign the Englishman.

Man City want to sign Tottenham target Branthwaite

The Daily Mail reports that City are monitoring Branthwaite’s situation at Goodison Park.

With the youngster already attracting admiring glances from top sides, City have also registered their interest.

It’s noted that Manchester United have been leading the race to sign the defender, with Spurs and Real Madrid also keen.

Yet, Everton’s price tag of £60million plus could be an ‘issue’ for United.

Braithwaite’s England call-up

Off the back of an impressive campaign at Goodison Park so far, Branthwaite was named in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.

The 21-year-old didn’t feature in last night’s defeat to Brazil but could be set to make his debut against Belgium next week.

When you look at Branthwaite’s impressive form this season, it’s easy to understand why the likes of Madrid and City are in for him.

The talented defender has adjusted to the step up to Premier League football at Everton with ease and has arguably been their standout defender this term.

Whether or not Spurs splash out over £60 million to land another centre-back remains to be seen.

With Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both impressing this season, they may be better off putting that money into different areas of the pitch, especially after Dragusin’s arrival.
