Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 24

In the frontline in Ukraine, 52 combat engagements were registered over the last day. The largest number of enemy attacks remains in the Novopavlivka direction, and Russian occupants continue to conduct subversive and reconnaissance activities, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

In total, the Russian invaders launched 32 missile and 47 air strikes, and fired 48 MLRS at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and populated areas.

The enemy attacks resulted in casualties and injuries among the civilian population. Multi-storey and private buildings were destroyed and damaged.

Situation at the frontlines

The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remained unchanged. There are no signs of enemy offensive groups forming.

At the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the enemy maintains military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.

Russian troops carried out air strikes in the areas of Peremoha and Popivka in Sumy region. More than 15 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Bleshnya in Chernihiv region; Sorokyne, Bachivsk, Starykove, Volfynove, Popivka in Sumy region; Veterynarne, Borysivka, Ambarne, Strilecha in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the invaders did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 5 enemy attacks near the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense.

The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region and Ozerne in Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling damaged more than 10 localities, including Makiivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Terny¸ Serebryanka, Spirne in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 5 attacks by Russian interventionists in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka in Donetsk region. The enemy launched an air strike near Zalizne, Donetsk region.

About 10 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Vasyukivka and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled eight enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychi, east of Umanske and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region. The enemy launched air strikes near Ocheretyne and Novokalynove in the Donetsk region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Oleksandropil, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka in Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka and Urozhayne, where the enemy, supported by aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 17 times.

About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Vuhledar in Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, the invaders attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, 2 times with the support of aviation. The enemy also conducted air strikes near Makarivka and Staromayorske in Donetsk region; Malynivka in Zaporizhzhia region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Poltavka, Rivne, Charivne, Orikhiv, Pyatikhatky in Zaporizhzhia region.

Situation on the left bank of the Dnipro River

In the Kherson direction, the invaders did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions during the day.

Russian troops fired from multiple launch rocket systems at such settlements as Kozatske and Poniativka in the Kherson region.

Enemy losses

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 8 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment.

In addition, the missile units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 2 air defense systems, 3 artillery systems, and 1 electronic warfare station.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a morning briefing on March 24 that over the past day, enemy losses amounted to another 990 occupants. This brings the total number of Russian Army losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion to about 436,750 soldiers.

In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 24 tanks, 28 armored combat vehicles and 44 enemy artillery systems.

The Strategic Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported today that the Defense Forces struck at Russian occupiers' facilities in Sevastopol. Two Russian landing ships and a communications center were destroyed.
