Report: More concerning news emerges for Pep Guardiola, this time involving £130k-a-week Man City star

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be sweating on the condition of Kyle Walker – and now, another of his players is possibly contending with an injury.

Walker limped out of England’s 1-0 defeat to Brazil on Saturday night, pulling up in the early stages. He received treatment and then tried to play on, but had to be replaced by Ezri Konsa.

There should be word on his condition in the next few days, but it was a worry seeing him go off for the Three Lions given the important period that is coming up for City.

Pep Guardiola ideally needs all of his players fit in the coming weeks, so he can rotate when he needs to.

So he might be a little concerned when he catches wind that another City player may have picked up an injury…

Portugal are in action against Slovenia on Tuesday, as they continue their preparations for Euro 2024.

Roberto Martinez is expected to make several changes to the side that started the 5-2 win over Sweden.

It is possible that Matheus Nunes will play no part against Slovenia. He started against Sweden and may have been in line to be rotated.

But according to O Jogo, he actually had to miss Portugal training today having had ‘foot complaints’.

There is no indication at the moment that this is anything serious for Nunes, who played just over an hour against Sweden, impressing in a central role and scoring the victory.

Nunes shouldn’t be risked against Slovenia

We will see in the coming days what the situation is with Nunes, but him not training is slightly concerning.

If there is any risk that he could aggravate his injury on Tuesday then he obviously must not play, with City having many extremely important games coming up.

Nunes may not be an absolutely crucial player for City yet. But the 25-year-old is obviously majorly important in terms of having squad depth.

City’s medical team are probably in contact with their Portuguese counterparts, and surely, the player will not feature against Slovenia if there’s any danger
