Biden Calls For House Action On National Security Supplemental Bill

President Joe Biden lauded the bipartisan effort behind the funding bill he signed into law, emphasizing its significance in maintaining governmental operations while bolstering the nation’s economy and security.

In a statement following the bill’s signing, Biden highlighted the collaborative nature of the legislation, acknowledging the concessions made by both Democrats and Republicans to reach a compromise. Biden said that the bill “rejects extreme cuts from House Republicans and expands access to child care, invests in cancer research, funds mental health and substance use care, advances American leadership abroad, and provides resources to secure the border that my Administration successfully fought to include.”

However, Biden emphasized that the work in Congress is far from over. He called on the House to pass a bipartisan national security supplemental bill to further advance the nation’s security interests.

“The House must pass the bipartisan national security supplemental to advance our national security interests. And Congress must pass the bipartisan border security agreement—the toughest and fairest reforms in decades—to ensure we have the policies and funding needed to secure the border, ” urged Biden. “It’s time to get this done.”
