'I know'... Man Utd forward has 'enormous potential' says Premier League defender who is excited about his ability

Manchester United supporters have been enjoying the performances of youngster Alejandro Garnacho over the past few weeks.

At the weekend, Alejandro Garnacho took his talents to the other side of the world, when he featured for Argentina.

Garnacho, 19, was a half-time substitute as Argentina beat El Salvador 3-0. It was his best performance yet for his country, after a direct, yet unselfish display in which he was unlucky not to end up with at least one assist.

This was his fourth international appearance and the young forward could potentially be in line for a first start when Argentina face Costa Rica in another friendly in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Sergio Romero praises Alejandro Garnacho

Lionel Messi is absent from this latest Argentina squad due to injury, and this latest fixture gave a chance for youngster Garnacho to shine, along with Brighton prospect Facundo Buananotte, a 65th minute substitute.

A regular fixture in the squad is Tottenham defender Sergio Romero, and he chose after the game to talk up the young duo.

Romero told TNT Sports: “I have faced them and I know they have enormous potential.”

He added: “We have a great group to continue achieving things. I see Lionel Scaloni (manager) doing well, with great enthusiasm.”

Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo de Paul also talked up the young talent in the squad, viaDiario Panorama: “It makes me happy because at the end of the day they are the future.”

Garnacho was praised by the Argentina press after his performance, with the national team working towards their defence of the Copa America this summer.

At present, it looks like Garnacho is a certainty to make the squad, seizing his chance in Saturday’s friendly, and earning his biggest chunk of playing time yet, a full 45 minutes.

Garnacho decision upcoming for Manchester United

After the international break, Manchester United face Brentford away from home in a Saturday night kick-off.

Garnacho will be involved, he has made every international squad, but his fitness will be assessed, given that he plays in the US at 2.50am UK time on Wednesday.

In contrast, Antony has had the entire international break off, not selected in the Brazil squad. After his goal against Liverpool, he will be full of confidence.

There’s a chance he gets the nod ahead of Garnacho, with games in the following days against Chelsea and then Liverpool to bear in mind.
