"Ukrainian military intelligence assesses Yamal’s damage as critical: a hole in the upper deck caused it to roll to the starboard side," the report said.

The Yamal ship took part in the annexation of Crimea (in 2014), HUR added, and from 2017 to 2023 it underwent repairs.

Other Russian losses in the Sevastopol strike are still being clarified.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the large landing ships Yamal and Azov, a communications center, and several Russian Black Sea Fleet infrastructure facilities, Ukrainian Armed Forces’ StratCom confirmed on Telegram on March 24.

Should both ships turn out to be critically damaged, it would mark a huge loss for Russia as the enemy would have only three of 13 ships left in the Black Sea Fleet, said Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.
