Report: How Ecuador fans reacted to Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez being subbed on for his country yesterday

Reports from Ecuador have now shared what the reaction was like when Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez was like when he was brought off the bench to feature for his country last night.

El Futbolero reported what the exact response was from fans of a side who were losing in unconvincing fashion against Italy.

Paez has established himself as a regular for his country at the age of just 16, now registering five appearances already for the senior side.

Paez breaking records for Ecuador

He has also found the net already for them too, going on to break a number of international records in South America set by the likes of Pele.

The youngster found himself on the bench though last night, with his nation limping towards defeat in a Friendly against Italy.

There was very little help available on the pitch for Moises Caicedo, who remained a shining light in his national side.

Ecuador fans cheer Paez coming on

When Paez was introduced in the second half, there was a notable reaction from those supporting the South American side, suggesting they had hope the game could now be turned around following his introduction.

Unfortunately they went on to lose 2-0, with the European champions adding a second in the final moments.

What this international break will have likely told Ecuador though is that the teenager is part of their strongest side, and their supporters are buoyed whenever he is on the pitch.

That confidence will be essential when they take part in the Copa America this summer, and look to pull out what would be a shock result.

The favourites are likely to be Argentina off the back of their victory at the World Cup, with Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez sure to play a key role when the action gets underway.

With Caicedo and Paez also there, Chelsea will be well-represented when the continental competition gets underway.
