‘Honest answer’: Sky Sports reporter makes ‘significant’ PSR claim about what is happening to Everton today

This marks a hugely important week for Everton, both on and off the pitch.

However, as has frustratingly been the case all season, the latter somehow takes precedence.

After all, a trip to AFC Bournemouth feels rather inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, especially given the dire current form of Sean Dyche’s side.

Meanwhile, in the courtroom they are set to battle another potential deduction, as their latest PSR case is being heard.

Sky Sports has the latest.

Sky Sports reporter offers the latest Everton PSR update

Well, speaking on Sky Sports earlier today, reporter Mark McAdam sought to detail why today marks such an important day for Everton and its fanbase.

After all, it marks the commencement of their three-day hearing, as they seek to once again battle a PSR charge and avoid punishment.

Whilst they were not quite as successful last time, this journalist has revealed when a decision can be expected and how the case stacks up against their November debate which resulted in a ten-point deduction.

He claimed: The honest answer is we are going to expect decisions to be made by April the 8th. And the reason why today is significant, and Everton fans need to know why today is significant, is because it’s the start of their three-day hearing with regards to breaching their PSR commitments for the season 22/23.

‘It’s important to point out that this is completely different to the ten-point deduction which was initially given and reduced to six points, this is for a further breach in the following campaign of the season 22/23.’

A hugely significant week in Everton’s recent history

Whilst this defence, led by Laurence Rabinowitz for the second time in just three months, is hugely important in securing Everton’s short and long-term future, it is not the only significant event occurring off the pitch this week.

After all, it could also mark the period where 777 Partners are either accepted or denied by the Premier League, after nearly eight months since first striking a deal to purchase the club.

Having been set a strict set of conditions which must be met before approval is granted, the ball is well and truly in their court.

They know what must be done to achieve their goals, and now all they need to do is complete them.

This PSR debacle, however, is far more convoluted.

Nobody can predict what the Premier League and their independent commission might do, having already shocked the world by handing Everton the harshest points deduction in top-flight history all those months ago.

The hope is that, having already endured one sanction, and having made clear strides towards sustainability, they might be able to achieve the ‘best-case scenario’ that football finance expert Kieran Maguire outlined not too long ago.
