'I was told': Jeff Stelling has been tipped off that £70m attacker could leave after Tottenham links

Jeff Stelling has now been sharing what he’s heard about a player who’s recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The resounding defeat left a bitter taste for all associated with the club heading into another period without a game, which feels so regular this season.

Of course, the addition of European football next campaign will change that, with Spurs now looking likely to gain Champions League qualification one way or another.

And in order to prepare his team for such a European campaign, Postecoglou will need to make several additions.

Tottenham do have a strong squad right now, but it will need to take a step further in order to seriously compete for silverware – something Postecoglou sees as the minimum.

And with that in mind, Jeff Stelling has now been sharing what he’s heard about Kaoru Mitoma’s future, a player linked with a summer move to Tottenham.

Jeff Stelling says Kaoru Mitoma could leave Brighton this summer after Tottenham links

Stelling was speaking on talkSPORT this morning and said that reliable club insiders think Mitoma could be ready for a new challenge.

He said: “I was told by somebody who knows the club inside out that maybe even Kaoru Mitoma might be on his way.”

Of course, that would be a blow to Brighton & Hove Albion’s prospects, given Mitoma has been so crucial to their upwards trajectory.

Tottenham were linked with the £70m-rated winger not so long ago, a player who would definitely improve the club’s starting XI.

With the great respect to the likes of Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson, Mitoma would be an immediate starter, a player who would allow Son Heung-min to return to a central role.

It remains to be seen just how strong these links to Tottenham are, but per Stelling’s words, the club should definitely be on alert ahead of the summer.

Players like Mitoma don’t come along too often, and if Roberto De Zerbi is to leave Brighton this summer to perhaps move to Bayern Munich or Liverpool, it could present a good chance for a club to swoop in for the winger.

That being said, Micah Richards has been amazed by another Premier League player said to be on Spurs’ radar.
