The world is in ruins. But that's not enough for an army of robots called Automatons and a horde of killer beetles known as Terminids.
In the cooperative third-person shooter “Helldivers 2,” this sinister alliance wants to destroy all human life and it’s your job to prevent it.
As one of the elite shock troops called Helldivers you have to put an end to the Terminids and the Automatons. First you complete a tutorial and then you jump out of a spaceship directly onto the battlefield.
The game is all about shooting at your enemies and achieving mission goals. You need to aim very precisely so that you don’t hit your own teammates while blasting aliens.
The game is particularly fun in co-op mode with up to three friends, as you can plan joint missions particularly effectively. Thanks to cross-play, groups can also play partly on PCs and partly on PlayStations.
A total of 59 different weapons, from assault rifles to shotguns to flamethrowers, can be unlocked throughout the game. If you pay extra, you get new equipment more quickly, but all of the weapons can also be earned by completing missions.
Since every round follows more or less the same pattern, “Helldivers 2” may not be the most varied game. But with action-packed shooting, a huge selection of weapons, and the focus on team play in co-op mode, the game should provide hours of fun. “Helldivers 2” is available for PCs and the PlayStation 5 and costs €40/$40.
