WeGoTrip has become the latest business to resort to artificial intelligence travel assistance, following similar ventures announced by brands such as Expedia and Tripadvisor in mid-2023.

The company is offering AI-generated and voiced audio guidebooks to go with its archive of human-scripted and voiced audio guidebooks to around 300 destinations in over 50 countries.

According to travel research publication Phocuswire, holidaymakers can customise their audio with preferences such as "duration from one to 12 hours, language and additional preferences, such as a specific part of a city or a theme such as historical sites."

The €35-a-go AI tours can be customised, with WeGoTrip, which was founded 5 years ago, describing the offering as part of a "transformation from a copy-centric economy to a bespoke content economy."

Customers have to wait 48 hours for the download to be ready, however, as WeGoTrip’s staff have to review the AI-generated material - which is derived in part by using ChatGPT - to make sure it is comprehensive and accurate.
