The deadline to sign up for the LensCrafters settlement for qualifying customers who made certain purchases between 2013 and 2023 is here.
The lawsuit against LensCrafters, which also does business under the name Luxottica Retail North America, ended with a $39 million settlement. It alleged the company engaged in deceptive advertising by making false statements about the precision of its AccuFit system.
The lawsuit said LensCrafters’ made false claims that the AccuFit system was “five times more precise” than traditional methods, measuring “down to a tenth of a millimeter,” and that customers would have “clearer, crisper vision” and “see the world more clearly.”
LensCrafters said it stands behind the quality of its prescription eyewear and denied the allegations.
People may be eligible for approximately $50 per pair of eligible prescription eyeglasses purchased from Sept. 5, 2013 and Sept. 20, 2023, the settlement website said.
If you’re not sure of your purchase dates, you should complete your claim “to the best of your ability,” the website said.
The deadline to file a claim to be part of the settlement is Wednesday, March 27.
