'Excellent' Wolves starlet channels his inner Pedro Neto with absolutely sublime goal for his country

It has been a pretty good international break for some of Wolves’ players – and one youngster scored a truly stunning goal at the weekend.

Gary O’Neil has a few players away at the moment and is hoping that everyone will return in good condition ahead of the business end of the season.

Nelson Semedo and Toti Gomes were both in action for Portugal last week, but won’t play in their country’s second game against Slovenia tonight.

Joao Gomes also featured against England at Wembley, and caught the eye of pundit Micah Richards.

Another Wolves player who played for his country at the weekend was Dexter Lembikisa – and the 20-year-old scored a stunning goal…

Lembikisa is currently on loan at Hearts up in Scotland, for whom he has made 10 appearances so far.

He joined them in January, after spending the first half of the season with Rotherham United in the Championship.

Lembikisa – who was described previously by Matt Hobbs as ‘excellent’ in terms of his one-vs-one defending – has been hoping for a productive season, after he was handed his first-team debut at Wolves last term.

He came off the bench against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup in November 2022, before going on to make his Premier League debut against Arsenal. His first start then came against Liverpool in the FA Cup in January 2023.

Lembikisa is looking to impress those back at Molineux, and he would certainly have given them something to talk about after he featured for Jamaica against Panama on Sunday.

Lembikisa scored the only goal of the game – and it was a stunning strike. He picked the ball up around 20 yards from goal. Coming in from the right side, he threw in a stepover and shifted the ball to his left before unleashing a beautiful curling effort into the top corner.

Pedro Neto would be proud

What a goal this was from Lembikisa and what a way to open your account for your country.

He probably isn’t going to score too many better ones in his career, but certainly, this will encourage him to start trying his luck a bit more from outside the area.

It is the kind of goal that you would definitely expect to see from Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

The way Lembikisa threw in a stepover, shifting the ball to his left foot is something the Portuguese likes to do when he plays from the right, which has often been the case this season.

And it is not uncommon to see Neto going for that same far corner Lembikisa picked out.
